find out how you can rename this blog!

Place your ORDER here.

order_takingOK.  This is a bit humorous, to say the least.  In the last 24 hours I have given a handful of my friends at work, facebook and Linkedin (which I’m new to using this summer) a chance to preview this “work in process” site and the response has been quite interesting.  It seems that while there a few friends who immediately jumped in with comments (THANK YOU!), the vast majority have sent me emails or called.

The general consensus (after getting over the shock of seeing what I’m doing) is supportive and it seems there are a number of “suggested topics” people are proposing.  So here is your chance.

Log in anonymously if you feel more comfortable, and list your suggested topic.  Then we can see if people agree with your suggestion or not over time (the little voting thumbs up or down next to each comment).

I’m not promising I’ll tackle the topics…but it can, at least, be a great test of the comment section of this blog site.  I want to make sure all the functionality is working as designed before the Jan 1st launch.

Remember, I’m open to criticism and thought provoking advice to make the site worth doing.  I’ve learned a lot so far, but to have staying power this will need to gain more of an interactive flavor.

So….what do you want?

Fortunately, I retired in 2002 and missed all the fun during the multiple reorganizations at Ford. It must have seemed like the whole place just disintegrated. I just can't imagine. I knew that Nasser was really bad news and the Company would be much better without him. I was involved in one of his mandated vehicle line "teams" to manage a car/truck line as if it were a separate business. A horrendous waste of time and energy for all involved. Mulally really impresses me as does the apparent comeback of Ford. I remember riding with you Joe and talking about a lot of good subjects. I think the blog is great but I'm not sure how much validity my perspectives will hold now that so much has changed.
I do know this…marketing and sales along with most other endeavors is a "people" business. Gotta love the folks with all the baggage they may bring along. Those of us old enough to remember Bernie Crumpton and his terrifying ways realized early on that that was NOT the way to do things. I have a part time job that provides about as much income as the time I spend doing it. I love it and the people and the community it serves.

    Mike,
First, I'm sorry for the delayed response. Since this is your second posting, it should have automatically shown up as approved rather than going into the "moderator" bin. I will keep investigating why that function doesn't seem to work yet.

Secondly, I can promise you that your experience and opinion is exactly what this venue needs. While I may use several references to my own experience at Ford Motor Company, it isn't at all about Ford or the current state of the Company. I fully suspect, by the way, that the majority of contributions and dialogue will come from outside my small circle of FMC employees. In fact, after 25 years, I'd guarantee it.

I am hopeful that we can find a way to bring a number of perspectives to bear on various topics that some might actually find helpful in this day & age. I'm thinking it will be fun in the long run….even if a bit embarrassing to get the ball rolling using my own experiences.

Your willingness to participate is awesome!

This dialogue is really about experiences. Its a place where one persons perspective can be bounced against others and debated or refined, in hopes, that the conversation is found useful for participants and readers.
